Research

We have conducted extensive company research to find beacon manufacturers and their UUID formats. Our methods include internet research, media research, cold calls and product demos. We have also studied the technology behind beacons and its workings, SDKs and the app-libraries to understand the information flow ecosystem between retailer, beacon device, app and the user. Our primary technology research method is through the internet.

In order to tie the beacon data back to the beacon providing third party vendor, we used the following strategies to gain more data points:

1. Internet search of the UID string to check for a match

2. Company research through cold calls and product demos

3. Securing a few variety of beacons to check for UID patterns and secure a match ( subject to availability of funds)

We were able to identify 50+ different beacon manufacturers across the world. Some of the major players in the market along with their UUIDs are given in the table below:
